Spartanburg Water has been providing water to the community for over 100 years. We serve water directly to our retail customers and also indirectly as a wholesale provider to other water providers in the county. We serve over 180,000 residents and our infrastructure has been planned to secure a 50 to 75 year water supply and rates that are affordable.

To establish an account for a residence or business that is already connected to our system, please call Customer Service at (864) 582-6375. Customer Service Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
The following information is needed to establish an account:
• Name, Date of Birth, and Social Security Number
• Tax ID number, if applicable
• Address of the property to receive service
• Mailing address
• Email address (optional)
• Daytime, Evening, and Mobile phone number
• Date service will begin
A utility deposit may also be required to establish service.
To establish service for residential or commercial construction that you plan to connect to our water or sewer system, please contact the New Connections Department for information regarding water/sewer availability, technical requirements and applicable fees.
Cost is based on the size of the meter requested by the customer and the location of the main. All applicable fees for tap, capacity, and inspection are due at the time of application. Installation time is approximately 10 to 15 business days from the date of application and payment of fees.
An irrigation meter is a separate tap and meter connection installed to supply water for outdoor purposes such as lawn irrigation, swimming pools, gardening, greenhouses, etc. An irrigation meter
may provide a cost benefit for customers who are connected to the public sewer system and use water for outdoor purposes. Because the water measured by the irrigation meter does not flow into the
sewer system for treatment as wastewater, there are no sewer charges. The customer pays only for the water used and the base charge. Irrigation meters may be subject to additional regulatory requirements
for backflow prevention and annual testing. The costs for testing may vary and are the sole responsibility of the customer.
Spartanburg Water is responsible for installing and maintaining the tap, meter and line from the water main to the meter site. The customer is responsible for installing and maintaining the line that connects the irrigation system or other plumbing system to the meter.
